Serialised Graphic Novel for the PSP

It’s not particularly new but in case you haven’t heard of it, Dayender is a PSP optimized Graphic Novel Set in a post-tsunami-flooded manhattan a century from now. So far, the first two issues have been released, and it’s great stuff. I really like the use of GPL licensed narcotics – not sure why they’re there but it’s a fun concept nonetheless (ok, maybe I need to get out more.)

The graphic novel itself is great, but the concepts are pretty cool. Firstly, it’s a PSP-optimized novel. If you go to PSPDrive you can get sync it directly to your PSP from the web. This in itself is cool.

Secondly, it’s licensed under a Creative Commons license, and the authors are thoroughly encouraging translation, remixing and mashups. Already, someone’s come up with a way of making your own unofficial T-shirts.

This has all got me thinking. What about a site where popular comics and general media could be reformatted for PSP, available for direct sync – like PSPDrive, but moving more towards a PSP-driven iTunes store. I like the idea of the material authors being able to set their own prices (including free) for content. Maybe that’ll shut the hordes of iPod video loving fools up.

If I had the time, I’d do it. Sadly, I don’t – but who says no-one else has?
