Burger King forced to drop ‘Sacrilicious’ Ice Cream

Has the world gone mad? Burger King is withdrawing its ice-cream cones because its lid was deemed offensive by a Muslim. Business development manager Rashad Akhtar popped into Park Royal Burger King in London and spotted the ’sacrilicious’ lid. Apparently, if you spin the lid one-way to the right, it looks like Arabic script for Allah. Where it gets really freaky is with this guy’s reaction. Burger King decided to pull the design and spend thousands redesigning the lid. It said: “The design simply represents a spinning ice-cream cone.”

Judge for yourself

Akhtar on the other hand, isn’t happy. He wants everyone to boycott Burger King. He said: “This is my jihad. How can you say it is a spinning swirl? If you spin it one way to the right you are offending Muslims.” Judge for yourself, I’m just not convinced on this one. I’m all for a boycott of Burger King, but perhaps more on the lines of exploiting teenage kids and immigrant workers and peddling chemical-addled crud?
